Deadmau5 is a Progressive House/Minimal Trance and Techno producer and DJ from Toronto, Canada known for tracks such as “Arguru” and “Not Exactly”; tracks which have been included on compilation albums such as In Search of Sunrise 6: Ibiza and MixMag’s “Tech-Trance-Electro-Madness”, mixed by Deadmau5 himself, and on Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance radio show. Deadmau5 was called the most notable producer for 2007 by Tiësto and Armin van Buuren in interviews regarding their ranking in DJMAG’s top DJs in the world.

Deadmau5 was introduced to the world February 2007 when a copy of “Faxing Berlin” found its way to the hands of the radio show host Pete Tong. Since then Deadmau5 has released online singles, started the record label Mau5trap Recordings, and has been featured on at least 15 dance compilations in 2007. His Studio album is awaiting release in 2008.

The name Deadmau5 comes from an incident where a mouse crawled into Zimmerman’s computer. He chose the name Deadmau5 because “dead mouse” comprises too many characters to use as an IRC handle.

Boys Noize is the monicker of a German electro-tech producer and DJ, Alexander Ridha. It is also the name of Ridha’s label, Boysnoize Records, which he set up in 2005.

Ridha was born and grew up in Hamburg, Germany. Between the ages of six and fourteen, he practiced piano and drums. At the latter age, he began to purchase records and produced music with programs. Mr. Oizo (pronounced Mister Wah-Zoh) is the pseudonym of French music producer Quentin Dupieux.

Dupieux is most famous for his electro track “Flat Beat”, which became a hit all across Europe in 1999 for being featured in a series of Levi’s jeans TV advertisements. Dupieux also directed the ad, which featured a yellow puppet named Flat Eric nodding his head to the sound of the track while riding in a pickup truck. Flat Eric later appeared in the music video for “Flat Beat”.

After “Flat Beat”, Oizo released his first album in 1999, Analog Worms Attack, featuring a single of the same name.

In 2005, Oizo released his second album entitled Moustache (Half a Scissor).

Tocadisco (Spanish for ‘turntable’) was born on 8 June 1974[1], and grew up in a small city near Cologne, Germany. He plays several instruments and played in different bands in his youth.

In 1996, Tocadisco’s professional DJ career started at Düsseldorf’s UNIQUE Club. With Tocadisco on the turntables, UNIQUE got voted “Best Club of the City” several times in PRINZ magazine. He has also played for fashion brands like G-Star Jeans and Diesel. In 2000, Tocadisco moved to Cologne and built himself a recording studio.

DJ Tocadisco has produced several remixes for different record labels. The most popular remix was for “Lifetimes” by Slam; the mix got voted one of the 12 Best Remixes in 2001 by the readers of the music magazine GROOVE. In October 2003, Tocadisco got signed to the German dance record label Superstar Records. His first single under his own name was called “Nobody (likes the records that I play)”. Phil Kieran is a DJ, music producer and electronic music recording artist from Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Kieran is primarily a club DJ, making his name as the resident at Shine in Belfast and later playing at venues across the world. He plays a wide variety of music including techno, breaks and house. While he is still to release a full album of his own work, Kieran has released numerous 12″s that have received recurring airtime on Radio 1 and featured on mix CDs by DJs such as Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Slam and on various Global Underground mixes such as Deep Dish’s GU021.

He has recorded for the DMC, Skint, Yoshitoshi and Shine labels. In 2002 he was awarded the Best Dance Act award at the BBC Hot Press awards.

In 2005 he formed a band called Alloy Mental, a collaboration with Irish singer-songwriter Martin Corrigan. Fischerspooner is an electroclash duo and performance troupe formed in 1998 in New York. The name comes directly from the founders’ last names, Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner. Spiking extremely retro electropop tendencies (recalling Kraftwerk, early Depeche Mode, and Gary Numan) with a modern approach to programming, Fischerspooner produces a quirky, robotic, and strangely subdued kind of dance music. Stardust was a one-time musical collaborative effort consisting of producers Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe and vocalist Benjamin Diamond.

The short-lived group released the immensely popular club track titled “Music Sounds Better with You” in 1998. The song, which is based around a sample from “Fate” by Chaka Khan, was an instant smash, and many have dubbed it the greatest house song of the millennium. It was recorded in Paris by Daft House productions, of which Bangalter, one half of the popular French house duo Daft Punk, is head. The song was conceived in Rex Club, Paris, where the trio were playing a live set. Bangalter and Braxe created the instrumental, which Diamond instinctively sang the title words over. The next day they laid down the track in the studio, adding the Chaka Khan sample.

Though Bangalter was offered three million dollars to produce a Stardust album, the three members of the band parted ways after their highly auspicious debut. Diamond and Braxe pursued solo careers, and Bangalter, along with his usual partner Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, went on to release the second Daft Punk album, Discovery.

The song “Music Sounds Better with You” lacked its own music video for several months after its release. This was taken to advantage by British music series The Chart Show that had received requests to show old graphics before the show ended in August 1998. They used the fact this song had no video to create a compilation of old graphics, backed by the song. Eventually a proper video was made, directed by the acclaimed Michel Gondry.

“Music Sounds Better with You” is one of the most remixed songs ever, with most mixes on bootlegs or white label. It is also one of the first songs to introduce the mashup style of remixing.

Shiny Toy Guns is a Grammy Award nominated American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California that formed in 2002.

The band was founded in 2002 by bassist and keyboardist Jeremy Dawson and vocalist and guitarist Chad Petree. Both had known each other for years growing up in Shawnee, Oklahoma and worked together on previous music projects such as Cloud2Ground and Slyder. After these projects, they went underground for a couple of years but continued making music together until enlisting both vocalist Carah Faye Charnow and drummer Mikey Martin in 2004.

The band quickly gained popularity locally in California as well as through their MySpace page. In January 2005, they released their first album We Are Pilots through record company Stormwest International. They began touring across America that summer in support of their album. They re-recorded and re-released We Are Pilots through record company Sidecho in November 2005, with a revised track list. They continued to tour extensively, and in June 2006, after extensive negotiations that had begun in November of 2005, they signed with Universal Records and released a finalized copy of We Are Pilots on October 17, 2006.

Their song “You Are the One” has its roots in Jeremy Dawson’s trance song “Neo”, that was put out under the Slyder moniker.

On October 29, 2007 Shiny Toy Guns (using the alias “The Shinys”) appeared on the children’s television series Yo Gabba Gabba!..

On December 6, 2007, We Are Pilots received a Grammy Award nomination in the category of Best Electronic/Dance Album, but lost to the Chemical Brothers.

Tocadisco (Spanish for ‘turntable’) was born on 8 June 1974[1], and grew up in a small city near Cologne, Germany. He plays several instruments and played in different bands in his youth.

In 1996, Tocadisco’s professional DJ career started at Düsseldorf’s UNIQUE Club. With Tocadisco on the turntables, UNIQUE got voted “Best Club of the City” several times in PRINZ magazine. He has also played for fashion brands like G-Star Jeans and Diesel. In 2000, Tocadisco moved to Cologne and built himself a recording studio.

DJ Tocadisco has produced several remixes for different record labels. The most popular remix was for “Lifetimes” by Slam; the mix got voted one of the 12 Best Remixes in 2001 by the readers of the music magazine GROOVE. In October 2003, Tocadisco got signed to the German dance record label Superstar Records. His first single under his own name was called “Nobody (likes the records that I play)”. In 2005 Tocadisco got voted by the readers of Raveline as one of the best newcomers in 2004.

Tiga is the stage name of Montreal-born DJ/producer Tiga James Sontag (born 1974). His album Sexor won the 2007 Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year.

He graduated from Selwyn House School, a prestigious school in Westmount. Before producing music, he was involved in the promotion of rave parties in his native city during the early 1990s, also Tiga was involved in the creation of world renowned afterhours club SONA. In 1994, he opened a record store named DNA Records, and in 1998 founded his own label, Turbo Recordings.

Tiga is widely known for his remixes: Tomas Andersson’s “Washing Up”, Scissor Sisters’ “Comfortably Numb” and Felix da Housecat’s “Madame Hollywood” but also for his covers of Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” and Corey Hart’s “Sunglasses at Night”. He produces his own material, but has also worked with Zyntherius, Richard X and Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters. He has frequently collaborated with Mateo Murphy (with whom Tiga forms the duo TGV) and Jesper Dahlbäck, who had produced many of Tiga’s newer remixes. Tiga is also good friends with Steph and David Dewaele from Soulwax, who produced about half of the tracks on Tiga’s debut album Sexor. His song “3 Weeks” has received repeated airplay in night clubs. Soulwax are currently producing Tiga’s second album. Mylo (born Myles MacInnes in 1978 on Isle of Skye), is a Scottish electronic musician.

A 1999 graduate of philosophy, psychology & physiology at Brasenose College, Oxford, Mylo quit studying for a philosophy Ph.D at UCLA to return home and produce music.

He released his debut album, Destroy Rock & Roll in 2004, on the Breastfed Recordings label, which he co-owns. Mylo produced the album on a computer in his own bedroom.

He has provided remixes for the likes of Scissor Sisters (“Mary”), Amy Winehouse (“Pumps”), The Knife (“Take My Breathe Away”), and The Killers (“Somebody Told Me”). One of his notable works is a remix of Kylie Minogue’s #2 UK hit “I Believe in You” in 2004 which appeared on the single which peaked at #3 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the U.S.

His biggest chart success to date came in autumn 2005, when the single “Dr. Pressure”, a mash-up of his own song Drop The Pressure and Miami Sound Machine’s “Dr. Beat,” originally created by mashup artists Phil n’ Dog before being released by Mylo, peaked at #3 on the UK singles chart. The single performed well in the U.S., especially on the Hot Dance Airplay and Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts. It made the Top 10 on both charts. The Red Hot Chili Peppers is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983. Blood Sugar Sex Magik was a critical success and sold over twelve million copies. However, Frusciante grew increasingly uncomfortable with the band’s success and left the band abruptly in 1992. Kiedis, Flea, and Smith employed Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction for their subsequent album, 1995’s One Hot Minute. It failed, however, to match the critical acclaim of Blood Sugar Sex Magik and sold fewer than half the copies of its predecessor. Shortly afterwards, Navarro was fired from the band due to creative differences.

Frusciante, while absent from the band, developed a severe drug addiction and nearly died. In 1998, he completed rehabilitation and, at Flea’s request, rejoined the band. The reunited foursome returned to the studio to record 1999’s Californication, which went on to sell fifteen million units worldwide, becoming their most successful album to date. It was followed three years later with By the Way, which continued their success. In 2006, the group released the double album Stadium Arcadium.

Angie Brown is a female singer/songwriter from Clapham, in South London.

Brown, whose vocals have been featured on tracks of diverse acts ranging from Fatboy Slim to Lisa Stansfield & The Wah Brothers, is more famous as the featured vocalist on Bizarre Inc.’s two #1 Hot Dance Music/Club Play hits (“I’m Gonna Get You” and “Took My Love,” both from 1993) and as the featured singer on Motiv8’s top ten UK track from 1994, “Rockin’ for Myself.” Before this, she was a member of the group The Doves, and performed lead vocals on their single “Beaten Up In Love Again”.

His Studio album is awaiting release in 2008.

The name Deadmau5 comes from an incident where a mouse crawled into Zimmerman’s computer. He chose the name Deadmau5 because “dead mouse” comprises too many characters to use as an IRC handle.

Deadmau5 is also working with Tommy Lee under the name ‘WTF?’ along with DJ Aero and Steve Duda. The EP will be Released Soon.

Groove Armada are a big beat group/dj duo from England, composed of two members, Yorkshireman Andy Cato (real name Andrew Cocup)[1] and Tom Findlay, hailing from Cambridge. They are now primarily based in London, and continue to produce and record music as well as hosting semi-regular club nights in London and an annual London festival under the Lovebox banner.

The group has collaborated with a diverse array of artists including Neneh Cherry, DJ Gram’Ma Funk, Sophie Barker, Nappy Roots, Fudge Dog, Sunshine Anderson, Mutya Buena and Richie Havens. Tom Findlay has described working with Prince as his dream collaboration, although there are no plans for such at the moment.[2]

Tocadisco (Spanish for ‘turntable’) was born on 8 June 1974[1], and grew up in a small city near Cologne, Germany. He plays several instruments and played in different bands in his youth.

In 1996, Tocadisco’s professional DJ career started at Düsseldorf’s UNIQUE Club. With Tocadisco on the turntables, UNIQUE got voted “Best Club of the City” several times in PRINZ magazine. He has also played for fashion brands like G-Star Jeans and Diesel. In 2000, Tocadisco moved to Cologne and built himself a recording studio.

DJ Tocadisco has produced several remixes for different record labels. The most popular remix was for “Lifetimes” by Slam; the mix got voted one of the 12 Best Remixes in 2001 by the readers of the music magazine GROOVE. In October 2003, Tocadisco got signed to the German dance record label Superstar Records. His first single under his own name was called “Nobody (likes the records that I play)”. In 2005 Tocadisco got voted by the readers of Raveline as one of the best newcomers in 2004.

In September 2006 Tocadisco remixed a track by Michael Cretu’s project Enigma – Eppur Si Muove, from Enigma’s latest album A Posteriori.
